This has come across my desk and seemed worthy of your attention:

— Classes at West Belconnen Child and Family Centre Semester 2, 2011
— With award winning photographer, Lee Grant
— Thursday afternoons 3:30-5pm beginning August 4
— Exhibition in Belconnen Gallery, Belconnen Community Centre, December 2011
— Enquiries and bookings: 62640232 Simone.penkethman@bcsact.com.au
— Cost: FREE, places strictly limited, book yours soon

Back in the olden days, photos were made of light reacting with chemicals. You couldn’t see them instantly but had to wait for them to be developed in a laboratory. Join this project and you will be loaned an old 35mm film camera that has been donated by someone from the community. Lee Grant will teach you about film photography as art and as journalism and abut how to tell a story with your photos. Finish the year by exhibiting your photos in the SNAP! Exhibition at Belconnen Gallery. (Thanks to Photoaccess and The Riotact for help with collecting donated cameras)

SNAP is an initiative of Belconnen Community Service’s Community Development Program.

Hey JB and all who helped out… I went to the launch, yesterday, of the exhibition resulting from this program. If anyone is interested in checking it out, it is in the gallery at the Belconnen Community Centre, Swanson Place, Belconnen Town Centre. RiotACT got a big personal “thanks” from Simone, BTW… I have photos; maybe I’ll pass some on to JB…
