The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for the ACT for heavy rain with thunderstorms which may lead to flash flooding during the early hours of tomorrow, Thursday 28 February, 2013.
The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has Units on a higher level of readiness. Residents who require emergency storm or flood assistance can call the ACTSES on 132-500.

Looking at the weather radar it seems we’ve got the same sort of pattern that caused last year’s flooding.
Interesting. There’s a lot of drama to our west, and with more feeding down into it. Could be a short sleep tonight for sure. Loving the rain after that long, hot, dry spring and summer.
It’ll miss Canberra. If the BOM gives us a warning like that, I put on my t-shirt and sunnies.

Oh ye of little faith i’ve never known BOM to get it wrong, oops my nose just grew 6 inches.
This will be a good opportunity to see how the new dam goes (including how quickly it fills).
Noticed way too many cars on the GDE this morning, because the lycra warriors are big sooks who won’t ride in the rain. Waaaa a bit of mud and water I might need to clean my bike tonight waaaaa. Bunch of sooks, I still rode.
I use the depth of water running in Sullivan Creek (Inner North) as a rough guide to how intense the rain has been.
This morning it looked quite tame, about half a meter.
So whatever was promised last night hadn’t been delivered.
But then a new warning is current (5:08am Thursday) so let’s see if we get some.
During Thursday morning, HEAVY RAIN WITH THUNDERSTORMS which may lead to flash flooding are forecast for *snip* Australian Capital Territory

On a related note, I thought the standard of driving was better than average on the Monaro Hwy this morning. People were calm and sensible, and it was a pleasant trip in.
It was depressing to see the number of people driving on Hindmarsh Drive without lights last evening at 7.30pm while it was raining.

I was thinking the same thing at 7am this morning, but down it came… I guess it just took its time shuffling over to us from the Riverina. Hope the t-storms forecast comes off too!

Oh come on, this is Canberra. If you’re going to make outlandish statements such as this you need to back them up with evidence; dash-cam footage or it didn’t happen.

I am a witness, it flowed quite well this morning. The only goos I saw was a young lady in a Silver Nissan Pulsar sedan texting all the way from Hume to the City and nearly running up the back of a car near the jail.

I just had my senior’s nap. Did I miss anything?
Wow, people saw good driving today? You definitely weren’t on the same roads as I was. I saw a lot of tailgating this morning.
I suppose it’s Canberra so I always see a lot of tailgating, but it’s particularly dangerous in the wet.

I just watched the TV news and see that I missed 9mm of rain. Wow, that must have been one hell of a downpour!
