By 4 December, 2012 4

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds in the ACT for tomorrow from sunrise.

Winds are forecast to reach around 60 to 70km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 110km/h.

The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) advise residents to prepare their properties by securing any loose items around the home, move vehicles under cover or away from trees and to ensure tree branches are trimmed clear of homes.

Residents who require storm or flood assistance can call the ACTSES on 132-500.

It’s not a storm, just useless wind. Mind you, there might be some snow in the Snowies. It’s a nasty little blow-in system bringing nothing useful. Saturday’s quick warm-up might bring a storm.

Yes, walking across Commonwealth Bridge this morning was quite the adventure. Those winds were a lot stronger there than the ‘up to 45km/h’ the bureau is currently warning of. Ah, no the warning says up to 100km/h — that’s more like it.

Thinner people and small children were being blown into the air and recovered from as far away as Fyshwick and Queanbeyan.
