Supreme Court to be rebuilt

The Canberra Times brings word that the ACT’s Supreme Court is going to be gutted with two floors of basements added and an extra floor in height whacked on.

This will allow the court to retain it’s location and facade while providing badly needed new facilities.

Win-win right? Well yes, except it means all of the court, including its rather important records will have to be relocated twice rather than once.

And while the “plan” sounds good the interim location has yet to be determined which is a potential deal breaker.

Like the proposed $432million white elephant PS building proposed, just another waste of taxpayers money. Can’t trust Labor politicians with public funds with all the leftys simply intent of making sure their mates in the building games get a good run.

Sounds like a good waste of $$$$$ to me.

The registry staff have already been relocated to the Magistrates Court building under the ethos of ‘single registry’…is the plan to locate them back in the new building?

Lots of band aid solutions going on with nothing of substance which will do a damned thing to fix staffing/resourcing or the waiting lists.
