Swimming pool blues in Canberra

We’ve succumbed to family pressure and have arranged to build a pool.

We selected an established builder of concrete pools on the basis of their purported reputation and initial customer service and signed a contract in early July 2011.

It’s been hell ever since as they cut corners, give us no notice of what they expect the client to arrange and generally are unorganized and unprofessional.

We are now looking for another pool builder to complete the pool. Anyone have similar experiences or can advise of a good pool builder?

Also advice of how we can get restitution for the bodgy work to date.

We do have a contract and have spoken to the pools umbrella organization SPASA, and can take the matter to ACAT, but are interested if anyone has been through this process.

Any recommendations for a legal firm that do this type of consumer protection work?

Grateful for any advice or experiences.

For any services regarding my pool, I have been calling these guys for years now. Reliable bunch of folks and won’t break our bank either 😛

You should give them a call

Thanks clang. Looks like Brian is from Leader Pools. Will call him after we’ve terminated with mediterranean Pools. Need to go through full dispute resolution processes first. A lot of work, with little rewards, except in reining in the excesses of some of the cowboys in the pool building business.

Re a good replacement pool builder, we had a pool built by Brian Barnier and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Absolutely reliable, on time, on budget and extremely nice to deal with. If he is still around, I’m sure he would do an excellent job.
