Sydney World Music Chamber Orchestra Public Workshops Saturday 28 November 2015

Three public music workshops are on offer on Saturday 28 November 9 – 12 at the Jerrabomberra Community Centre, The Parkway Jerrabomberra with musicians who are part of the Sydney World Music Chamber Orchestra performing on Friday night at the Q Theatre.

Empowering the Female Voice is open to women and girls of all skill levels to find their voice and create a joint composition to share at the end of the workshop. The workshop will be presented by Maria Mitar and Gambirra Illume.

The Universals Strings Masterclass is for bowed string instrument musicians with a minimum of Grade 3 achievement. Masterclass participants will learn some melodies from Mongolia and China and from along teh Silk Road and create three string arrangements to share at the end of the workshop. The workshop will be delivered by Bhuku Ganburged and Dr. Nicholas Ng.

The Cross-Cultural Rhythms workshop is open to participants of all skill levels to explore Latin and African rhythms and learn how they inter-relate in different cultural contexts. This workshop will be deliverd by Yaw Derkyl, Victor Valdes and Richard Petkovic.
