Can anyone suggest for websites or forums to find a rental property which accepts pets. I just need a single bedroom dwelling and a place that allows my pets. I have 2 beautiful dogs.

Crate hire for moving interstate?

By 15 February 2014

So I am packing up my home and moving to Mexico (well, Melbourne)…
I like the idea of hiring reusable plastic crates instead of cardboard boxes.
(I don’t mean milk crates, but secure storage crates)
I’ve read about crate hire services where the supplier delivers crates to your home and then collects them from your new home a [...]

Zeffirelli – vale the lost, or soon to return?

By 14 February 2014

Hi all,
Now, I know there will be many views on the merits of the food or the hiring policies, or the link to the Copa, but that aside….
Does anyone know what is happening with the last of the Zeffirelli restaurants, Belconnen?
The windows are covered over, the phone is disconnected, and the seating is all outside [...]

Rights on property photos

By 14 February 2014

Hello Rioters,
Does anyone knows about who has the rights of the photos taken by property agent. I thought we have the rights because it’s our property and we paid for the photos taken through the agent. But the agent said that the photos are belong to them and we can’t use them. Thank you.

Parking – without plates, hypothetically

By 14 February 2014

Here’s a purely hypothetical situation:
I drive my nondescript white Commodore to an ACT pre-pay parking lot, remove the ML-585 number plates and park without buying or displaying a ticket. Since I no longer have a registration sticker, in the event of a parking inspector doing the rounds, how will they issue me with a fine?
This [...]

Removal of a gas wall heater?

By 12 February 2014

Hello hivemind, I’m after information about how to remove a gas wall heater.
I have upgraded to reverse cycle and now I want to have the old unit pulled out. Dumb question, what kind of tradesman should I call? Does it need to be a heating/aircon company, or can a plumber do this for me?
Or is [...]

Secure Document Destruction

By 12 February 2014

Hi Rioters,
My company has a large volume of confidential documentation that we need disposed of securely. The problem is, it is more than pure paper, there are drop files, bound files, staples, plastic sleeves, ring binders etc. I have been unable to find a company that will dispose of the entire contents of the box [...]

Short term leases

By 12 February 2014

I am starting to do some research on how to sell my house and buy another and was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to bridge the time between settlements on your old home and the new one in Canberra? If you have done this – and could not move in with family [...]

Dentist recommendations – Tuggeranong area

By 12 February 2014

Master Cholet and I need to go to the dentist. Been a while for me for many reasons which don’t stand up to much scrutiny, and for Master Cholet, well it’s time that he got into the swing of having his gnashers checked out on a regular basis – we tried a few times when [...]

Parking restrictions

By 11 February 2014

We live in a narrow street in Crace – 6 m of asphalt – with no parking restrictions, no parking bays and, except for one house, no driveways.
Fine at the moment, but a development has been approved – yes we put in a representation – for across the road that will see twelve new [...]

Google is little help. Most/all stuff is old.

Office cleaning in Canberra

By 10 February 2014

After several years of trying to have staff in our small community service organisation’s office take more responsibility for keeping the kitchen clean, I’m surrendering and looking for a cleaning service.
We don’t need a full service, just kitchen and bins and vaccuuming, and occasionally a blitzkrieg against the clandestine biological warfare experiments being conducted in [...]

Anywhere to trail ride (motorbike) around Canberra?

By 9 February 2014

Hi all,
I’m new to Canberra and have just bought an enduro bike (with full rego).
As I don’t have a ute or trailer at the moment to go out to trails like Bendethera etc. –  are there any fire trails or national park areas that aren’t too far out of Canberra?
I’m really not fussy any dirt at [...]

Book keeper wanted: Sole trader looking for sole trader

By 8 February 2014

Despite the heading sounding vaguely like a misdirected personals ad, I am, in fact, not looking for love, but a book keeper for my business.
I’m a sole trader myself and would like to support another sole trader, preferably in the Inner North, but I’ll take quality over convenience.
Can anyone make a recommendation to me, please?
All [...]

Recommendation for good car service in Canberra

By 6 February 2014

My Toyota car is due for 80,000 km car service. I’ve been going to Toyota for car services previously. For this major service, Toyoto gave me a quote for $750. It is going to be a huge bill for me. I am wondering if anyone knows any good cheaper auto service in Canberra who are [...]

Where to get a waterbed

By 5 February 2014

Hi Rioters,
My husband andI are considering buying a water bed. We had one years ago when we lived in Brisbane, and as I remember it, it was one of the comfiest beds I had ever slept on ( though it could be that time and distance are playing tricks on my memory).
I was wondering if [...]

Restoration of old photos/negatives

By 4 February 2014

We have located what look like film strips of old photos of a long gone family member. Well, it looks like a strip of negatives but isn’t like a strip of negatives that you hold up to the light, but rather like a strip of small black and white photos. They’re not in [...]

Payment for fences?

By 3 February 2014

Part question but mostly a rant.
Two of my neighbours recently agreed to replace the fence between them.  The blocks don’t align perfectly so it made sense to also replace a small section (4m) of my fence at the same time. My neighbour (NOT the fencing company) asked me if I was ok with it being replaced, as [...]

Door fitter

By 3 February 2014

I need to replace an internal door that is starting to warp a little. Not sure why it is warping as it is an internal door well away from moisture/steam sources.
Is anyone who has had doors replaced recently able to recommend someone that might be willing to fit just a single door?
I would go get [...]

Good panel beater?

By 28 January 2014

Does anyone know of a good, reliable panel beater who charges a fair price for his services? I don’t know if such a thing exists, but I have a small dent in my bumper that is the result of a car park accident (they didn’t leave a message)
Thanks

Bats with lights

By 28 January 2014

Hello all.
Mrs Ryoma and I went to the fireworks in Commonwealth Park last night. Just on dusk, the bats came out of the trees and started their usual swooping about.
But to our surprise, some of the bats were colourful – or, more to the point, had some type of lights attached to them (lime green, from memory). Now, [...]

Would appreciate advice.

He did it Otway (or how do you book a show in Canberra?)

By 24 January 2014

John Otway, micro-star, “rock and roll’s greatest failure”, and subject of a recent Cannes premiered movie, is thinking about a trip to Aus. As a fan, (and friend,) of his I’m trying to get him to play Canberra. But never having been involved in something like this, how does one go about  arranging a gig? [...]

This will be purely for recreational/personal purposes I’m not looking to make a career out of it.
