The ABC news site has an article about how the Oxford English Dictionary will be adding “bogan” to the dictionary.
I was surprised to see that the article also mentions that the Macquarie Dictionary has state based alternatives for “bogan” including “charnie bum” for the ACT.
Don’t know what the VICs are playing at though, [...]
Blownhemi has posted this gem to YouTube with this note of explanation:
Okay guys, this is a very controversial topic. Here’s the unedited footage of the Steve Nogas incident.
What seems to have happened is that the driver Steve Nogas was told he was disqualified for reason stemming back to his qualifying burnout (disobeying a fire mashal), [...]
The Carnard family has upgraded the family car to a far newer model than that previously owned. This car has front seat side airbags. In the interests of keeping it clean and as kidfriendly as possible (eg safe from spills and crap) the boss wants seat covers. Some folk have warned/advised(?) us re fitting “normal” [...]
As seen on Belconnen Way this week, this ute begs the question:
With a ciggy hanging out the window, a Ned Kelly quote, and a cricket reference including a southern cross, is there anything that could be done to make this ute more Oz?

Who said Canberra has a bogan suburb?
“Canberra’s sprawling suburbs are so huge that they are split into several [...]

On a recent thread johnboy answered the question “what on earth is a booner” with:
proto-bogan
much like a westie but wearing an iron maiden tshirt and tighter jeans.
mostly extinct.
As someone who came of age in Canberra during the heyday of the booner—the 80s and 90s—this got me thinking.
During these glorious [...]
