Please treat our bus drivers with respect

By 3 August, 2011

I have just come to work on a bus. As I was late (again!), I only just managed to catch it, and spent the first five minutes panting for breath.
But at one intersection, the bus driver hesitated as to where to go, and a guy sitting behind me roared out words to the effect of [...]

Coe mocks Corbell bus surrender

By 5 July, 2011

The Liberals’ Alistair Coe is making merry with Simon Corbell’s bus agreement.

“Despite all the talk from Mr Corbell’s predecessor and former Chief Minister Jon Stanhope, there is little progress on improving the efficiency of ACTION and taxpayers will continue to subsidise the network by almost $90 million every year,” Mr Coe said.
“Under this ‘new deal’ [...]

By 9 June, 2011

A couple of times a week I catch the number 111 bus from Calwell to the city. In times past, this bus was not what you would call packed.

Sick of students on Action buses

By 2 June, 2011

I am getting sick of the rudness of private school students on Action buses.
I get the 318 from Woden each afternoon and most passengers wait patiently to board.
But not the Daramalan and Merici girls who push into the front of the cue, refuse to stand for older people and often take up multiple [...]

Action Buses on the June Long Weekend?

By 15 May, 2011

Given the issues I had using Action the last time I visited Sydney, I was wondering how they worked on public holidays.
I intend on visiting someone from Sydney on the long weekend and want to use Action to get home afterward.

It is after 7:30 Sunday night in Civic & where is the farkin buses?

I went to visit friends in Sydney and came back by bus. I thought getting in at 7:30 would have thought that there were busses available on my return, I was wrong.  Not only was I wrong but but a couple from the Philippines who had only just migrated to Australia a couple of months ago [...]

To check the balances on their cards and despite reading and fully comprehending the instructions to check the balances and following [...]

Greens unveil their 2011 budget proposals

By 28 April, 2011

The Greens’ Meredith Hunter has announced the Greens $41 million budget proposals which the government can probably ignore because who really thinks the Greens are going to side with the Liberals on anything now?

Petitioning ACTION to get on Twitter

By 18 April, 2011

We’re running a petition for ACTION Buses to start using Twitter in order to better communicate breakdowns and canceled services to patrons.

Anzac Day Bus Services

By 13 April, 2011

Hi all.  I have lived in Canberra for seven years now and as much as I love the place, I still find myself amazed at some government decisions.  Every Anzac day, my mates and our wives would all meet in a major city (which is chosen in turn) for Anzac Day to have a re-union. The city chosen is usually where [...]

Do not enter bus through this window

By 13 April, 2011

I’ve been seeing signs on bus drivers’ windows for a long time now and I’ve always wondered what their purpose was.
Have ACTION had a problem with passengers trying to get onto the bus through the driver’s window? Do drivers prefer to get in and out through their window?
If anyone knows that answer to this mystery, [...]
