The Greens are breaking out the bubbly as their efforts to make general society more like high school pass another important milestone.

The Liberal’s Member for Motorists, Alistair Coe, is asking where the Government’s parking strategy is five years after the first draft.
Released in 2007, the still unfinished strategy promised to: ‘Strike a balance between parking supply, demand for parking and the price of parking in the ACT.
‘Adoption of the Draft Parking Strategy will ensure [...]

Brian has sent in some great pix.
UPDATE 16/04/12 13:05: Rob Woodall has also sent some pictures. If you’ve got send them in to images@the-riotact.com .

This is my first post here, and I figure that others will have already perhaps commented on this, but today I (yep) paid the rego on my wife’s car, and the only thing I could think was that “Someone’s making money for nothing!”
My wife drives a little Barina Spark (1.2L engine) ironically in pink, which [...]
Can anyone recommend a business that does pre-purchase vehicle inspections?
I’m looking at buying a second hand 4WD and would like to have it checked out by an expert.
I’ve previously used State Roads Vehicle Inspections in Sydney, who are excellent, but they’re booked out here in Canberra until end of next week.
Thanks!
I need to get a tow bar fitted on my 08 Lancer.
Can anyone help with a recommendation of who can do a good job at a reasonable price?
Anyone had recent experience of how much I should expect to pay these days?
Northside preferable.
A while ago, I was at work when a few drunk people decided it would be a great idea to throw all the furniture off the back balcony. Due to the fact we were really busy and short staffed at the time, no one noticed what they had done until after the damage was done.
Unfortunately, [...]
I have been living in Canberra for 3 1/2 years now. What is the go with the lack of people being able to use an indicator in their car?
I am definitely in the minority when it comes to using an indicator when changing lanes.
I take my life into my hands every time I [...]

Simon Corbell has announced the launch of the much anticipated draft Transport for Canberra policy
Following on from Zed’s cost of living spray this morning the Greens’ Amanda Bresnan is asking what he plans to do about transport costs:
“Today Mr Seselja pointed to ABS statistics showing the high costs to Canberrans of fuel and transport,” said Greens Transport spokesperson, Amanda Bresnan MLA.
“This is absolutely true, and it is a [...]
Justice And Community Safety are running a survey on the motor vehicle repair industry.
Don’t say you never get a chance to have your say.
I was hoping that some informed RiotAct reader could suggest someone who could fix what looks like a cigarette burn in my cars roof just above the driver’s side window on the roofs upholstery.
I bought the car last Friday and everything is great but the burn does annoy me.
Will the whole roof need [...]
ACT Policing is reminding Canberrans not to leave valuables in their cars after a spate of vehicle break-ins at car parks in Lyneham in the past month.
During the past five weeks the Hockey Centre car park has had up to 40 vehicle break-ins. Seven vehicles were broken into at the Netball Centre car park last [...]
Most grateful for advice. A 12 month old car, purchased new, was serviced as per scheduled service, with the dealership that sold the car. During the service, the mechanics poured 250 ml a “deodorizer” into the air conditioning. The result is an awful smell, causing headaches, sneezing, running nose etc. The car is un-drivable because [...]
I have noticed a couple of my tyres are becoming worn and need replacing.
Can anyone recommend a tyre-fitter in the city area who won’t charge me the earth and/or do work I don’t need.
Any advice (or warnings) welcome.
Wondering if someone has blazed the trail before me and could answer:
1) Can they be registered?
2) Does the panel damage need to be fixed first, or doesn’t that matter?
A senior ACT Policing officer says that if you leave your vehicle unlocked and leave valuable items in view, you might as well put out a ‘welcome mat’ for opportunistic thieves.
Sergeant Rod Anderson, Officer in Charge of the Tuggeranong Police Station provided this message after a number of items were removed from unlocked vehicles in [...]
I am making a plea on behalf of my (far) better half.
His much loved 2004 (purchased 2nd hand in 2005) BA Falcon XR6 has always idled rough and recently seems to be misfiring.
His experience of services from the dealer and another *ahem* reputable franchise has not resulted in any remedy – to quote “I want [...]

I have a number of things to say, since RiotAct has helped me in various ways I thought a little content return may be in order. Therefore I will be posting semi-regular threads with the above heading ‘Here’s an idea…..XYZ – to stay in theme.
I don’t think this idea is new at all but thought [...]
Inveterate bandwagon jumper Caroline Le Couteur has called for the ACT Government to develop a peak oil strategy.
“It’s incredible that there is not a single reference to ‘peak oil’ in any of the Government’s major planning, transport, infrastructure or climate change plans”, said Caroline Le Couteur.“The Canberra Liberals confirmed their credentials as fossil fuel fossils [...]
On Friday night my wife and I watched this moron (ACT Rego YZN 659) put the lives of the passengers of three different cars at risk as he took his commodore three times around the round-a-bout sideways leaving a trail of rubber and smoke.
Each time he came back around I watched fearing that if he lost control he [...]

Hi all,
Further to the recent helpful thread on smash repairers, could anyone recommend one of those places that fix up minor scratches and dings (e.g. Dent King, Touch Up Guys, Cartesan (sp?)?
These in from ACT Policing:
