Screencraft media have sent in their spectacular look at all the Richards family have done with their Guinness World Record Christmas light display on Tennyson Crescent in Forrest, raising money for SIDS and Kids ACT.
Well worth a look.
No less than the Houston Chronicle is marvelling at Canberra’s Richards family who have reclaimed their world record for the most christmas lights on a residential property:
An Australian family has reclaimed their Guinness World Record by stringing up more than half a million Christmas lights around their suburban home.
Guinness World Records official Chris Sheedy [...]

I’ve just had this in which I thought could be of use to some of you:
Join for a tour around some of Canberra’s finest Christmas light decorations and help us raise money for Variety – The Children’s Charity.
Michael Dzido and Daniel Hughes are participating in the 2013 ‘to the top’ 4WD explorer – A trip [...]
With even the most staunch “it’s too early” objector having to can it come the weekend because its December, it’s time to start the thread for 2012.
I have a nearly two year old now, that’s a good enough excuse for me to get out and go look at other people’s lights without needing [...]
Earlier in the week we marvelled at the works of David and Janean Richards in upping the ante of lavish Christmas light displays. (Something 70% of poll respondents reckon is awesome)
We did, however, note that the Guinness website was silent on the matter of world records.
Well no longer.
Santa won’t have any trouble finding the home [...]
A couple of weeks ago the Canberra Times was breathlessly reporting the Guinness world record attempt light show of the Richards family at 3. Tennyson Crescent in Forrest.
Two weeks later we note Guinness remains silent on the issue.
But MJay has been down to see them and sent in these photos.
We thought we’d take this opportunity [...]
ActewAGL are helpfully suggesting how to safely use Christmas lights this festive season.
Before you start
– Check your old lights for fraying cords and broken or cracked sockets.
– Use lights that have an Australian Standard or approval mark.
– If you are using lights outside make sure they are weatherproof and suitable for outdoor use.
When you are [...]
Yet again I’m searching for some cool Christmas lights displays I can take the kids to see…
Can anyone recommend houses or particular streets that get into the Christmas spirit and cover their houses with an insane number of pretty lights??
We’ve had this helpful message in from Andrew:
Following from the Christmas Lights post a few days ago I put together an idea that’s been rattling around in my head for the past few years – a Crowd Sourced Christmas Lights Map using a free online crowdmap tool.
After doing so I actually realised that there are [...]
Arescarti42 has kicked us off for pictures of Christmas decorations around Canberra this year with an offering from Theodore.
Not to my tastes, but I’d give them an A for effort and creative use of heating/AC tubing.
Seen better? Send it in to firstname.lastname@example.org .
Last night (wednesday night) while looking at the christmas lights along knoke avenue in gordon at about 9:40 some kid looking about 15 without a shirt on, light hair and light possibly tan shorts, and fairly big muscles for a kid of his age, riding a scooter with about 4 other people stood out in the [...]
Achieve Success has published a copious list of places to see the festive seasonal light pollution and carbon atrocity known as Christmas lights.
Being a tragically stereotypical inner northican I started punching in suburbs within easy cycling distance of my abode.
Perhaps we should secede?
Anyway, something for those in less desirable locales to enjoy for [...]
Hi all… being new to the ACT I am keen to find out if there is a Christmas lights competition on here?
Where we moved from one of the radio stations and Energex ran a comp each year and we loved taking the kids out to the ‘awesome’ streets to check out the lights. Is [...]
I’ve always had a very modest display of lights around christmas time – the odd rope light and a few fairy lights and flashing stars and santas in the windows. If I want to be totally tragic and kitch, but not as bad as the Griswald’s family christmas, does anyone have any advice as [...]
As we are all so green these days, Christmas lights may be a little frowned upon, but they do warm the hearts of children as they warm the environment. So I thought I’d kick off the Christmas lights 2009 with this beauty (apologies for the dodgy photo – I need a better camera and less [...]
