Firefighters extinguished a small fire earlier tonight at a northside nursing home.
ACT Fire & Rescue responded to the incident at the Bupa Aged Care facility in Bindel Street Aranda just before 6 o’clock.

Fire extinguished in switchboard at Belconnen High School

Firefighters have extinguished a fire from an electrical switchboard at the Belconnen High School, Murranji Street, Hawker.
ACT Fire & Rescue has evacuated approximately 450 staff and students as a precaution.

A dishwasher at a Harrison home has caught fire tonight causing minor damage to the kitchen.

A 25-year-old Belconnen man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning following a fire at a unit in Belconnen last night (Monday, 21 April).

Sydney Building burns

The Sydney Building, which houses some of Canberra’s beloved food and drink venues, was ablaze yesterday. Fire chiefs feel that it is still structurally sound, but it’s not yet been reported which businesses were damaged (except for Coo, which may be where the fire started).

A light fitting in a three-bedroom home caused a small electrical fire tonight in Kaleen.
Firefighters rushed to the Tyrrell Circuit residence following an Emergency Triple Zero (000) call at 8.29pm and extinguished the fire which caused minimal smoke damage to the home.

ACT Fire and Rescue was alerted to the fire in a kitchen in a Woolley Street premise at 12.53pm.

Fire ban and associated closures to roll on with Severe fire danger rating

ACT Emergency Services Agency Commissioner Dominic Lane has declared a Total Fire Ban for the whole of the ACT under Section 114 of the Emergencies Act 2004 from:
12:00am Friday 17 January, 2014 to 11:59pm Friday 17 January, 2014.
