Unearthed Reviews: Knight~Hammer. Four and like 99% of a star stars

By 6 May, 2013

Time for another Unearthed Review.
Booting up the old RNG, I get a 15. 15 means KNIGHT~HAMMER.
I went to their page, their band image was broken, they listed themselves as Metal/Rock, their intro was almost non-existent. I readied myself for a whole lot of messy guitar noise with some talent-less roaring over the top.
I got [...]

Why I haven’t done an Unearthed Review in 4 days! How on Earth have you all been coping?
It’s ok, we’ll get you your fix with Kempsey.
Here’s what they have to say about themselves:
Kempsey draws it’s life from a broad world of influences. From the guitar driven riff-rock of Television, to the mood-filled hangover of [...]

Unearthed Reviews: Mornings. One and a half stars

By 11 April, 2013

Unearthed Reviews! I may not currently be in the ACT, but my heart is still there, and today it’s listening to Mornings.
Here’s what they have to say about themselves:
mornings in it’s current form has been together since mid 2011.
our music is made up delayed and distorted guitars;
looped and effected bass;
loud, sporadic drums;
and sparse vocals.
we have [...]

Unearthed Review: ASSASSINS 88. Four stars

By 13 March, 2013

Hey Groovers, it’s time for another Unearthed Review! Lets check out ASSASSINS 88!
Here’s the part where I usually say “Here’s what they have to say about themselves:” but I can’t because the band hasn’t put a bio up. Bios are too mainstream. Let’s skip ahead.
ASSASSINS 88 have a brilliant grungy pop-rock beach party sound, and [...]

Matty and the Watts Hots – and liberal candidate and a band name?

By 13 March, 2013

This Friday sees an abundance of amazing live shows in Canberra  (only coincidentally during the Canberra Birthday week) as I’m sure the DIY wotz on guide will reflect later in the week.
It would be counterproductive to list them in this post, as the purpose here is to draw attention to a novel factor of one [...]

By 12 March, 2013

Here’s what they have [...]

Canberra Day for the Centenary. A review

By 12 March, 2013

There has been some adverse comment about yesterday’s festivities so I thought I’d share my own perspective.
It’s true parts of the program ranged into surreal, or even bizarre territory.
There may not have been enough vendors (tricky to plan for to an un-ticketed event on a public holiday) but Civic was a minute away on my [...]

The Canberra Musicians Club at the O’Connor Polish Club roared into life for the new year last night with Fun Machine supported by Dahrnoir and the Brass Knuckle Brass band.

If you haven’t had the [...]
