The Economic Development Directorate has confirmed there is asbestos up on Mount Stromlo and they’re working on cleaning it up:
Air, soil and water testing has been conducted and the ACT Government is awaiting the results of these tests. The small amount of material discovered on the trail has been confirmed as asbestos.

ACT Parks and Conservation Service is planning to undertake a Hazard Reduction Burn tomorrow, Friday 24 February 2012, weather permitting.
