ACT Fire & Rescue are on scene at the Vikings Erindale Club, Ricardo Street, Wanniassa investigating smoke in the basement area.
The club has been evacuated as a precaution.

The ESA just let us know that the current smoke around the ACT is due to hazard reduction burns going on around Canberra today.
These burns will continue happening into next week.
The ACT Rural Fire Service advise that the smoke currently over the ACT is from bushfires burning interstate.
There are currently no fires in the ACT generating this smoke.

ACT Fire & Rescue are currently investigating smoke in a basement at Lovatt Tower, Keltie Street, Phillip.
Up to 600 people have been evacuated from the 22 level office high rise building as a precaution whilst crews investigate the source of the smoke.

The smoke is being blown into the Territory from bushfires burning in the Shoalhaven region of NSW.
There is currently no fires in the ACT generating this smoke.

Territory and Municipal Services are giving notice that O’Connor’s Bruce Ridge is going to be providing the scenic smokiness tomorrow in a big 21 hectare burn.
UPDATE 11/05/12 09:48: We’re advised that after last night’s rain the burn has been postponed.
We were notified of today’s burn.

Approximately 350 have been safely evacuated from Hughes Primary School following reports of smoke in the building.
The ACT Fire Brigade responded with multiple resources and found a faulty light fitting in the school library emitting smoke.
Firefighters are currently ventilating the area and will carry out atmospheric monitoring before allowing everyone back inside.

I’ve recently moved to Chifley and every night around 8pm there is a strong smell of cigarette/marijuana smoke that fills our house. It’s quite bizarre. We can close the windows but the smell is still really overpowering.

The ESA advise the current smoke haze over parts of Canberra is coming from bushfires currently burning on the NSW South Coast.

The ESA has just posted the following note:
Smoke across the A.C.T
Winds this morning are responsible for blowing smoke across some areas of the A.C.T from a fire in the Tallaganda State Forest near Rossi in NSW. There are currently no fires in the A.C.T.
So don’t panic.
The ESA has made the following statement:
Smoke across the ACT
Winds this afternoon are responsible for directing smoke across the ACT from bushfires interstate. Currently there are no fires in the ACT. ACT fire towers are manned and on normal bushfire alert.
So everyone stay cool.
Anybody know where all of this smoke is coming from? Either someone is having an epic BBQ or something is on fire.
