HUH? Federal budget funding for ‘Ramp metering on the Tuggeranong Parkway’.

By 17 May, 2013

Browsing through the Federal Budget papers I came across this item, which left me scratching my head:
‘$300,000 for Ramp Metering on the Tuggeranong Parkway/Cotter Rd interchange’
Like 99.9% of the population, I had no idea what ramp metering was, let alone why the Commonwealth would pay for it or why it was needed at the Cotter [...]

Parkway mayhem

By 7 August, 2012

Ok so I’m going to start the day off with a bit of a rant.
Why just why are tractor/diggers allowed on the road in morning traffic? This is the second morning where one had been on the road going about at 20 Km/h in a 100 zone and it’s causing people to be even more [...]

Hindmarsh Drive Accidents

By 31 May, 2012

While not ignoring the plight of our northern bretheren, do the 3 major accidents on Hindmarsh Drive and Tuggeranong Parkway over the last 3 days indicate that the City Council’s busway from Civic to Gunners is somewhat misguided and missing the mark?
Surely a public transport service (bus, train, helicopter, whatever) that utilises seperate laneways from [...]

Stolen car seeks to avoid attention by driving ‘next’ to the Parkway

By 16 January, 2012

My family and I had an interesting experience this morning while driving southbound along the parkway.
Just past Kambah High we noticed what appears to be stolen car (red hatchback, smashed rear window, no plates) come out of some trees on our left and proceed at speed along the nature strip.  Other drivers on the Parkway [...]

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?
No, it’s a remote control shark.

The tree stump scarecrow

By 9 December, 2011

Thankfully Owen has been out to take a picture so we don’t have to.
We’ve been getting reports today of some sort of alarming scarecrow on the Cotter Road.
Apparently it’s just near the Tuggeranong Parkway.

Very cheeky stencil art. Images of Canberra

By 2 December, 2011

DarkLadyWolf has sent in this picture from under the bridge where the Tuggeranong Parkway passes over Heysen Street, Weston.
We’ve asked TAMS if it’s one of theirs but at this point we’re suspecting a naughty stencil artist is having some fun.

Future of Cotter Road?

By 27 July, 2011

Just wondering if anyone knows what (if any) plans the ACT Government has to improve traffic flow along Cotter Road between the Tuggeranong Parkway and Adelaide Avenue?
This is already an issue on some days – however, once people have moved into the first of the new Molonglo suburbs which are currently under construction, it is [...]

Done on the Parkway

By 13 March, 2011

Driving home along the Parkway near the Woden Speed camera a few minutes ago, we were overtaken by an idiot in a burnt orange hoon mobile.  It passed us fast enough to rock our car in it’s wake.  The  news that warms my black little heart is it was followed by a station wagon with [...]

New sign on the Tuggeranong Parkway (nth bound b4 woden)

By 9 February, 2011

public information I’m guessing… ?

Fingers waved on the parkway

By 30 October, 2010

The magic of YouTube brings this altercation on the Tuggeranong Parkway. You can skip to 2:49 for the interesting bit.
“FullHalfGlass” is rather irritated, but the geezer in the Corolla did at least indicate…?

He can run, but can he hide?

By 3 September, 2010

[First filed: Sep 2, 2010 @ 9:42]

If there’s one thing the above photo tells us, it’s that you don’t need to do much more than 204km/h to get out of the frame of speed cameras.
Here’s the story from the AFP:
ACT Policing is appealing for witnesses to a motorcycle travelling at high speed on the [...]

Left, Right or Wrong

By 17 November, 2009

Has anyone else noticed the slip lane leading north onto the Tuggeranong Parkway from Lady Denman Drive.
You have the situation where cars coming off Lady Denman to go to Belconnen have a Give Way sign when turning right. Across the road from them you have cars exiting the Arboretum which have a [...]

Where is the Accident report plane when you need them?

By 14 August, 2008

As I left home this morning, tuning into 2CA, there weren’t any reports re any problems on the roads. when I got onto the parkway, surprise, surprise, there was a massive one. Funny thing is, there wasn’t even a mention by the “sky ranger” (or whatever they call him). Now, I can’t get the FM [...]
