Simon Corbell is celebrating what he sees as a big win for Canberra’s water security under yesterday’s Murray Darling Basin Plan:
“The final plan shows that Sustainable Diversion Limits (SDL’s) will not be reduced from 40.5GL to 29GL as was proposed in an earlier draft plan, and this means that Canberrans will continue to enjoy water [...]
ACTEW Water have the happy news that the Murrumbidgee to Googong pipeline has been completed.
This means in an emergency we can outbid the farmers downriver for water allocations and suck it out of the Murray Darling system:
After just over 18 months the Murrumbidgee to Googong pipeline project is now complete. The project is part [...]

Canberra’s leading movie makers Actew Corporation have released another one on the construction of their “M2G corridor”, known to us as the Murrumbidgee to Googone pipeline.
When complete it will let Canberra buy and store water out of the Snowy scheme, which is a handy thing to be able to do in times of drought.
Our power and water overlords advise the long awaited and rather important Murrumbidgee to Googong Water Transfer pipe is about to be laid.
Delivery of pipes for the Murrumbidgee to Googong Water Transfer will begin on Friday 20 May 2011 resulting in increased heavy vehicle traffic on Monaro Highway, Williamsdale Road and Angle Crossing Road.
Actew have posted amazingly beautiful video taken from the top of one of the cranes at the Cotter Dam expansion:

The Cotter Dam Discovery Trail was opened yesterday amid some hoopla which saw my name taken in vain on certain radio stations.
I went up today to experience the trail in the same way it’s going to be running for the duration of the construction.
Having parked where the old pub [...]
[ 18 September 2010; 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. ] ACTEW’s announced you too can get up and have a look at the monster Cotter Dam expansion program.
Enjoy a day out at the Cotter, wander the new boardwalk along the river and grab a front row seat on the new amphitheatre style viewing platform to watch the live action at the Cotter Dam worksite. [...]
YouTube, thanks to “spinningreel” has thrown up a gem of a 6 minute doco on the history of the Cotter dam.
So many things I did not know about all the infrastructure out there.
And so re-assuring to see that cockups are nothing new.
The way taxpayer funded TV advertising would have you believe it the Cotter Dam expansion is already underway.
So I’m absolutely fascinated to see ACTEW slip out the door today, a Saturday, a call for public comment on the draft Environmental Impact Statement for the project.
So, either the project is actually still in a pre-approval phase, [...]
