The Oz on "MP" at the Street Theatre

No less a body then The Australian is taking a look that the new play by Alana Valentine opening at the Street Theatre on 1 October:

Canberra’s Street Theatre commissioned the award-winning playwright to create a work for local audiences. MP premieres on October 1, and its season coincides with parliament, so members can attend.

The fictional protagonist is a 53-year-old conservative and mother of two in a de facto relationship, to be played by theatre stalwart Geraldine Turner.

The character has been shaped by interviews with politicians, including Deputy Opposition Leader Julie Bishop, former National Kay Hull and Human Services Minister Tanya Plibersek — but not Julia Gillard, who declined to be interviewed.
