garbage collection

TAMS are saying that they’ve caught up on garbage collection just about.

The bins down David Street would beg to differ but let’s see what the afternoon brings:

The ACT Government has announced that Cleanaway has been able to organise extra shifts for drivers this afternoon to almost fully complete the backlog of rubbish bin collections.

Catch up collections will be done from 3 pm today for all remaining suburbs that haven’t been collected, with the exception of parts of Dickson and Downer.

These areas in Dickson and Downer will be collected as per their normal service on Friday. Another run of these areas will also take place on Saturday.

Tomorrow will see the scheduled Friday rubbish and recycling collections take place.

Recycling collections will be undertaken on Saturday in those suburbs which were missed last Friday.

The ACT Government has again extended the operating hours of Mitchell and Mugga Resource Management Centres until 6 pm tonight to allow people to dispose of the contents of their garbage bins free of charge if they are able. One free delivery will be available per vehicle. Normal charges apply for all other waste including additional household waste.

Gee, a garbage strike in the inner north affecting the Greens voters who saved the government at last year’s election while the Liberal voters in Tuggeranong had their garbage collected as usual. Shane and Katy should explain to Klaus that pork barreling 101 – as exemplified by such things as light rail and the NBN – doesn’t make provisions for inconveniencing the chosen ones.

I live in Watson and coped for the week after their first missed Friday collection. This would have been fine but yesterday (the second Friday) they again haven’t collected it. Fingers crossed they collect it today (Saturday) because he rubbish now stinks badly and it’ll soon be overflowing from the bin.

Ainslie is good! Phew – I came VERY close to putting my overflow rubbish in the recycling bin …

I would suggest that perhaps that bin was skipped because it’s so overloaded.

That’s right, that bin won’t be collected.

Well they came through Narrabundah earlier today so presumably they won’t be coming past tomorrow for the usual Friday garbage collection?
