ACT Policing has released the image of the offender from the robbery of a 75-year-old man on Saturday morning (February 23).

About 9.40am, the elderly man was followed from the Commonwealth Bank, where he had made a withdrawal, to the ground level Myer car park of Westfield Belconnen.

The offender threw the man to the ground and kicked him several times. The offender fled after stealing the man’s wallet.

The offender is described as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, approximately 170cm (5’7”) tall with a solid build and unshaven. He was wearing a black Nike baseball cap, white hooded jumper with light brown sleeves and hood, dark pants and white shoes.

It’s a photo of a small portion of the video on an LCD display. Given there’s so much detail still despite that, I’d say they have pretty good CCTV.

So in about a year or 3 he’ll get his obligatory 3 month good behaviour order, despite having committed various offences while on bail and in breach of previous good behaviour orders.

Police have arrested a 20-year-old Queensland man suspected of throwing an elderly man to the ground, kicking him and stealing his wallet.
The alleged offender followed the 75-year-old victim from the Commonwealth Bank to the ground level Myer car park at Westfield Belconnen at about 9.40am.
ACT Policing said the arrest follows a tip-off from a member of the public who recognised a facefit of the alleged offender.
