Torched house in Isabella Plains

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a suspicious house fire in Isabella Plains which occurred early this morning (Sunday, August 28).

Around 4.50am Tuggeranong police were conducting a mobile patrol in Isabella Plains when they observed a house in Ellerston Avenue on fire. Police gained access to the rear of the premises and determined no one was home.

The ACT Fire Brigade arrived shortly after to control and extinguish the fire but the house sustained major damage. No one was injured in the blaze.

An initial assessment by police and fire investigators deemed the fire as suspicious. AFP Forensic Services will attend the scene to determine the cause of the fire when the structure is deemed safe to enter.

Police would urge anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in or around the Ellerston Avenue area early this morning to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information to Crime Stoppers can be provided anonymously.

Then again, the initial assessment from ESAs website said there was one occupant home who was bravely rescued by the police (before the fire rescue guys arrived), who then went to check for any other possible victims. 10min later, a correction that there wasnt anyone home. Sounds like they need to figure out their own story before they can start investigating the indicent.
