The following in from the ESA:

2:10 Thursday 26 August 2010 – Fire engulfs Stirling home ACT Fire Brigade responding to a house fire in Barlee Place Stirling.

First crew report property is well alight.

Update to follow.

2:35am Thursday 26 August 2010 – Update Home completely destroyed.

Damage bill estimate at least $300,000.

No one believed to be inside.

UPDATE: The AFP are onto this one:

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a suspicious fire in Stirling early this morning (August 26).

At about 1.50am police were called to a fire at Barlee Place, Stirling. ACT Fire Brigade also attended and neighbouring properties were evacuated. The fire was extinguished before residents were allowed to return to their homes.

Police ask that anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area in the early hours of this morning should contact Crime Stoppers.
