Andrew Barr has announced applications are being sought for the ACT Government’s Events Assistance Program (EAP).
The ACT Labor Government is committed to supporting organisations and businesses planning local tourism events that bring more visitors to the ACT.
Specifically, EAP funds support events that:
— increase the number of interstate or international visitors travelling to the ACT;
— extend their length of stay in the ACT;
— enhance the overall tourism experience of visitors;
— contribute to the brand enhancement of the ACT as a tourism destination; and
— engage and benefit other sectors of the Canberra region tourism industry.Examples of events supported under previous EAP funding rounds include the Foreshore Summer Music Festival, the Eastern University Games, the Australian Dragon Boat Racing Championships and the Capital Country Truffle Festival.
EAP applications close on Monday 1 August 2011.
