The Cooma-Monaro Express has some pretty spectacular pictures of a horizontal twister spotted on the road between Canberra and Cooma:
“Then as we watched it it grew and was twisting and swirling up on itself. It got bigger and bigger, spreading sideways so we were taking photos and videos out the window of the car. Some people had stopped to take photos on the other side of the road. “Then as we came around a corner, we saw it whipping up the dust as it touched down on the ground. It made a swirly dust storm several storeys high, then as we were watching the whole thing sort of … broke up and slowly lost its form.”
