Okay, so nearly a month has passed and I’ve found the downside to the U-brew-it setup. It’s not nearly as economical as I thought.

Used to be that a single stubby with dinner after work was sufficient – finish it of and I’ve had enough.

The Redwood my two mates and I brewed is different, and we’ve all found that the first is sooooo good that you can’t stop at just one! Average consumption is now two at a time, which means prices are now only about 10% cheaper than buy a slab.

And we now have to make another booking to go and brew a couple more batches, too.

Curse you U-Brew-it for your quality products! 🙂

(as before my disclaimer: not related, not a shareholder, just a very satisfied customer.)

Well, after reading this and other U-Brew-it related threads, we went over and brewed our first batch a fortnight ago and bottled twelve dozen Redwoods this afternoon.

Bloody marvellous! A cold, clean brew that tastes great, and the blokes out there were friendly and helpful at every stage.

It took about an hour to get the recipe done, and another hour to bottle, and total cost was $145 plus $66 for the bottles which we can re-use.

About the only suggestion I could make to improve the experience is to bring a big bag of nuts or pretzels with you for the bottling session 🙂

If you like a beer, give it a go!

What are you saying, Skid?!

THE-RIOTACT IS PEOPLE!

The standards are like the taste of soylent green, and vary from person to person.

i should have thought a response to the beer rip-off thread is posted in the beer rip-off thread, not started as a new ‘story’ – especially one with no appropriate disclaimer…

do we want to have absolutely no standards at RA? am i being unreasonable – or too optimistic??

It’s an ad about beer. Anything about beer is relevant news.

I thought it was a response to the great beer rip off thread, and therefore acceptable…

all that said, is this is not a commercial, not a story..? i thought there were avenues for commercials on RA.

It’s very weird thumper. The last thing you need when you’ve been drinking and other for at least a day and a half straight is some old man reciting the damn poem about the elephants butt or something. Anyone who’s attended this will know what I’m talking about.

Planning to get as drunk as a lord, eh Mael?

Are these the same guys that do that beer-tasting (guzzling) weird-ass poetry session at the folk festival?

thanks Mael, we’ll be in touch

@Maelinar: Chicken tallying should wait until after the eggs have hatched.

But hooray, UBrewIt is now a member, so we can random namedrop them like we do Proud Local.

I offer my services as an independent (not RA Admin), with a serviceable knowledge of homebrewing consultant on the RA homebrew tour of ubrewit…
