Attorney-General Simon Corbell has announced he’s in the market for a new full time Supreme Court Judge as Justice Gray faces retirement next year when he turns 70.

The selection process must be based on a consideration of possible candidates by the Attorney General having regard to the selection criteria stated in the Determination. The selection criteria and information on how to lodge an expression of interest are available from the Department of Justice and Community Safety website, at http://www.justice.act.gov.au/.

Expressions of interest close on 1 November 2010.

So who would you like to see on the bench?

Brian Van Zuylen from Queanbeyan magistrates court. He seems pretty reasonable.

I’m more interested in when Terrence (a month’ll do) Higgins will retire.

I guess you probably need some sorta law degree for that yes?

Maybe John Neild will return, heard he was really good!

Neild’s getting long in the tooth though. someone in their late forties/early fifties can take a good run at it.

pick me. or captain raaf.
