Joy Burch has the thrilling news that Tuggeranong is getting an Introductory English Centre:

ACT Minister for Education and Training Joy Burch today announced the 2013-14 Budget will allocate $1.8 million for an Introductory English Centre (IEC) at Wanniassa Hills Primary School.

The IEC supports students newly arrived in the ACT with a language and cultural background other than English and who have limited English language.

“I am delighted to announce that the forthcoming Budget will provide $1.818 million in capital, recurrent costs and expenses for the IEC at Wanniassa Hills Primary School,” Ms Burch said.

“This is great news for students who have recently arrived in Canberra with limited or no English skills, and delivers on a 2012 ACT Labor Election commitment.”
