The ABC is warning that there are simulated counter-terrorism activities being held across town as part of the national Mercury 10 exercise.

ACT Attorney General Simon Corbell says there will be no disruption to the normal operation of these services.

“I think most Canberrans won’t notice any significant, certainly won’t see any significant disruption to their day to day business, although they may notice a bit more activity than usual from our police and emergency services on the day,” he said.

The Greenway fire station had an announcement going off about an explosion at around 11.

No vehicles were deployed, unless they had already left the station.

Would that explain the large number of police standing around at the roundabout at the end of Southern Cross Drive, Macgregor this morning?
