Well timed fire at Lyons Primary (Early Childhood)

ACT Fire & Rescue has responded to an Automatic Fire Alarm at Lyons Primary School.

Crews were on scene at the time of activation for education purposes when the automatic fire alarm was activated.

A fire was contained to an oven and quickly extinguished by crews onsite.

Approximately 250 staff and students were evacuated to an adjoining building with no injuries to report.

Two pumpers, one Hazardous Materials Unit, one Breathing apparatus and a command vehicle are currently on scene.

ACT Fire & Rescue are about to commence atmospheric monitoring and ventilation operations.

The damage was contained to the oven.

ACT Fire & Rescue would like to remind the community to be vigilant and don’t stop looking while you’re cooking.
