Simon Corbell has announced his plans to legislate us into the National Energy Customer Framework.

“This framework will see a significant improvement to the existing regulatory requirements for the sale of electricity and gas to ACT community and in turn better protect consumers,” Mr Corbell said.

“Customers will also be able to access a price comparator website which will help them compare offers from different energy retailers in their area, further promoting competition in the energy market.

“This reform will strengthen consumer protections, enhance retail market competition and reduce costs for electricity and gas retailers. Over time this will flow through to lower prices for energy consumers in the Territory.”

Retailers will be required to provide comparative energy usage information on bills. This information will enable people to compare their usage to the average usage of other similar sized households in the community.
