Westfield Belconnen Parking

Hi Rioters

Can anyone give a suggestion for cheaper parking at or very near Belconnen Westfield?

A family member works unusual hours in the mall and sometimes doesn’t finish until almost midnight. The option of public transport doesn’t work. To bus it from Gungahlin to the mall is one thing but there are no buses late at night.

Parking can cost $30 a day. There is an early birds special but as the hours can start at 10am, I don’t think they would consider that to be early.

Any suggestions will be gladly read.

Just go to the parking office (Fresh Food car park office) and ask for a card. You pay a certain amount for the amazing privilege of having a card, and then it is $5 per day, all day with the card for access. There’s two car parks (on the Emu Bank side of the mall, entering as if going through to the docks), but the second level fills up fast, so maybe stick to the bottom if starting work later. Come Christmas time, or a few weeks out, they close off the second level car park, so it turns into a Thunderdome style routine every morning, with everyone fighting for a spot. Also, good luck if your car gets broken into or damaged, Westfield have a ‘sorry not sorry’ policy when it comes to staff parking (which is understandable, it is in the T&C but still sucks). I’m making a really great case for staff parking, right?

Park your car at the lake, Florey shops, behind the old police station, or Big Splash/Jamison shops/Canberra High oval for free parking and then just walk. On the weekends/after normal business hours, just park across the road from the mall at Emu Bank, or at the government car parks.

There are also paid carparks along Emu Bank, one is behind La Bimbi and is $8 a day, and there is one down near Hungry Jacks, which is also $8. Paid parking also exists near the Salvos. No idea how much it is.

Hope you find a solution, don’t know if I was helpful.

There is staff parking on the middle level of the lakeside multilevel carpark. Otherwise you can use ACT government carparks around the place.

I think they do a special staff rate. Ask at the centre management.

Park at the lake and walk over. Parking at the lake is about a 10 minute walk (or less depending on which car park you choose).

Most of the ACT Government owned car parks in Belconnen are capped at approximately $10 a day
