There used to be a wonderful Map Shop just near the Churches Centre in Civic, it was a full travel books shop, but with heaps of proper travel maps too.
Some normal bookshops have very good selections of maps in their travel section, that Dymocks in City Walk used to be good (not even sure if it’s still there, I avoid Civic like the plague these days).

That closed down a long, long time ago. Canberra timeing anyway.
Try one of the adventure clothing stores along Lonsdale street. I remember seeing those type of maps in one of them a couple of weeks ago.
Dymocks has just moved upstairs into the comfortable bosom of the Canberra Centre (opposite the soon to be vacant Pepe’s Paperie).
Is that closing? God, I must get there as I love their notebooks.

If you get a UK one you will be glad to know you get Northern Ireland bundled in there as well
If you are willing to accept the loss of Northern Ireland (sore point for some) then the AA Road Atlas Britain is a very good buy. Easily available online.
I concur that the AA one is a good one that is kept up-to-date.
You definitely want a map to help you avoid the Motorways when you drive around England – perversely Motorways end to be the slowest and longest route to get anywhere (I think we borrowed some English roads people to help staff ours here in Canberra).
Switch to the country roads and you will see more AND get there faster.
Well, you *would* get there faster except you’d have to drive past *so* many pubs without stopping….

Pepe’s will still have their Woden store, but I understand they were finding the costs and conditions associated with the comfortable bosom of the Canberra Centre a little unsatisfactory.
IIRC 31 December was going to be their last day in the Civic store. Haven’t been passed again to see if that proved true.

Dymocks in Belconnen had a fairly decent range when I was looking for one a couple of months back.

When I needed a Scottish map last year I got it from Book Depository. It gave me the best range since they are based in the UK. Free postage as well!
