Joy Burch is shouting out for nominations to the Young Canberra Citizen of the Year Awards 2011.

“Every day young Canberrans are making amazing contributions to our society, whether or not they realise it,” Ms Burch said.

“These awards celebrate those achievements and allow the rest of us to recognise their endeavours by nominating them for an award.”

This year there are seven award categories: Young Canberra Citizen of the Year; Personal Achievement; Group Award; Youth Arts; Individual Community Service; Young Entrepreneur; and Young Environmentalist.

Any young person aged between 12 and 25 and who has made a significant personal achievement or contribution to the ACT community can be nominated for an award.

RiotACT remains intrigued by the lumping together of 12-25 year olds. 12 year olds main concern being getting their heads flushed at recess, while 25’s wrestle with mortgages and marriage.

In any event, nominations can be made online.
