Here’s a thought: If Stage 88 was used last night instead of paying for a massive stage to be built next to the lake, they could of used the money on:
- having more than 3 toilets at Regatta point
- providing more food options for the event
- providing better food options for the event
- having alcohol options for everyone (not just the 1% of Canberrans that got a ticket to the bubbly bar)
Yes, this does seem like a good question.
My only guess is they didn’t want people facing away from the lake, maybe, perhaps?
Because the events were meant to be around the lake and Stage 88 was too far for this purpose.
They also didn’t want to create a massive rush as everyone would have moved from stage 88 down to the lake to see the fireworks.
There were 3 toilets for 100000 people. Kenny would have been busy
Two decades after we went to the Canberra Day fireworks they STILL haven’t figured out basics like properly organising toilets for a crowd?
