Widespread distress as the Captains Flat radar goes down

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.

On the bright side, it’s stopped raining.

UPDATE: Relax everyone, it’s back up.

Hurrah … there was much rejoicing as the Captains Flat radar comes back online…

As of 7.29am on the 29th it is still down – sure I am suffering withdrawal symptoms.

I usually check the Wagga Wagga 256km loop in preference to Toytown.

wow, walkin can see at least 5mins into the future!

It has been down since Christmas Eve. Hopefully they are fixing the software so that the wind farms (factories?) at Gunning and Tarago don’t show up when the blades are turning (occassionally).

Am I the only one enjoying the rain?

No, I’m enjoying it too.

But with the radar down…I dunno. I’m scared.

This seems to be an annual event. Down now since the 24th, no ETA.

I will admit that I freaked out this morning when I noticed it was down. It’s a sad addiction, I know.

When the Captains Flat radar goes down you can always use the next closest one available and extend the range out to 512km, it will still cover the ACT…

IIRC once you get to the 512 limit it combines the take from all the radars in the area into the image, hence it won’t actually have full coverage of the area when CF goes down, only where the radars overlap.

Yup – Sydney.

We’ve had 108mm from Sunday to this morning at Gungahlin.
I waiting for ACTEW to hang out the “Dams 100% full” signs…

Am I the only one enjoying the rain?

I think we’ve proved the weather radar is causing foul weather.

Based on the pretty colours currently on the radar, we could be getting damp soon…

Holy crap, I was driving along when I saw blue lettering in the sky: “R a d a r s e r v i c e . . .”

Did you ever think that it was the radar that was making it rain? This proves it.

I’m off to get my tinfoil hat!

Without the BOM radar, how can we be sure?

This is precisely what worries me. If the internet stops working “you can’t break the internet – IT Crowd”, how will I know:

what time it is?
what the news is?
what directions to take to drive from my home to work?
what my freinds are doing; e.g “Peewee is chillaxing – OMG – LMAO”
what those initials even mean?
how will planes fly?
how will I send this tripe to you?

Argghhh…….

Yes, I saw a blue cloud before……..

OHH, I SEE IT AGAIN!!!!!!!
