Witnesses sought to firearm incident

ACT Policing is appealing for witnesses to an incident where a firearm was discharged on Monday night (December 1) in Chisholm.

About 9.55pm police attended McLorinan St, Chisholm, in response to a disturbance. Two men flagged down attending police and stated their car had been shot at.

A white Subaru WRX was observed to have a damaged windscreen and a spent shell casing was located on the road in front of the vehicle.

The men said they were approached by two males wearing balaclavas, with one holding a firearm, described as a single-barrel long-arm. The male with the firearm struck the windscreen with the firearm and immediately after a shot was discharged.

Two males from a nearby home were taken to Tuggeranong Police Station and were assisting police with their enquiries.

Yesterday (Tuesday, December 2) detectives from Criminal Investigations executed three search warrants. During the search warrants police located ammunition in a Kambah home and a firearm and balaclavas in a business premises in Phillip.

At the conclusion of the warrants, a 33-year-old Kambah man was arrested for unauthorised possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition. He will be facing the ACT Magistrates Court later this month.
