Witnesses sought to Jamison robbery

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a robbery which occurred in Jamison on Sunday (May 4).

Between 10am-2pm a man, who suffers from a mental disability, was selling copies of ‘The Big Issue’ adjacent to the Coffee Guru at the Jamison Centre.

Around 2pm the man was walking from the Jamison Centre to his residence in Cook. As he walked past the playground area at the front of the Jamison Centre he was approached by a man who identified himself as ‘Brett’.

They struck up a conversation and walked across to Redfern Street before entering a laneway heading south towards Teague Street, Cook. It was at this moment that the offender ‘Brett’ has grabbed a black satchel that was being worn across the chest of the victim and fled in a direction unknown to the victim.

The satchel contained a small amount of cash, which were the victim’s takings for the day.

The offender is described as Caucasian, approximately 20-25 years of age, slim build with short light-coloured hair. He was wearing dark pants, dark T-shirt and runners.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may be able to identify the offender, are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

I do sincerely hope they catch the vermin who did this and prosecute/persecute him to the full extent of the law.
