Shane Rattenbury is letting people know they have options if their seasonal cheer is going particularly wrong:

“The Domestic Violence Christmas Program (DVCP), which is now in its 9th consecutive year running, assists families experiencing domestic violence by providing them with short term emergency accommodation and support by specialist homelessness services,” said Mr Rattenbury.

“The DVCP was developed in response to an identified increase in the need for emergency accommodation for families experiencing domestic violence over the Christmas and New Year period.”

The program is run collaboratively by Housing ACT, the Domestic Violence Crisis Service, and the specialist homelessness services that work together to deliver an innovative program solution that meets the needs of vulnerable Canberrans each year.

The program will run from Monday 16 December 2013 to Monday 27 January 2014.

Contact for those seeking assistance is 1800 176 468 or the DVCS 24-hour crisis line on 6280 0900.
