Health Minister Katy Gallagher is calling out for applications to share $480,000 in the ACT Health Promotion Grants Program.

“Funding totalling $480,000 is being offered by the ACT Health Promotion Grants Program through the 2011/12 Health Promotion Sponsorship and Stay On Your Feet® Falls Prevention Funding Rounds,” Ms Gallagher said.

“$280,000 will be provided through the Health Promotion Sponsorship Funding Round which is open to sporting, recreational, arts and cultural organisations with an interest in promoting good health and wellbeing through their activities. Three levels of funding of $30,000, $20,000 and $10,000 are available.”

“In addition to promoting a key health message, community groups, not-for-profit organisations and government agencies are encouraged to create healthy environments that are accessible to all. These grants are an excellent way for an organisation to encourage healthy behaviours such as;

— Smoke free areas,
— Sun protection,
— Healthy catering,
— Readily available tap water, and
— ‘No Waste’ and recycling practices.

Applications close on 4 April 2011 and can be made at www.health.act.gov.au/hpgrants
