Your chance to buy a "Like Canberra" t-shirt

Chief Minister Gallagher has announced that not only has the “Like Canberra” promotion given thousands of self promoters the chance to spruik their own interests in this town (not to mention letting gasping up-tweeters get some Canberra100 retweet love for their klout scores) but now you can buy a t-shirt to show your affection, if not love for this city.

ACT Chief Minister Katy Gallagher has announced that eye-catching Like Canberra t-shirts went on sale yesterday at the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre, following the successful launch of the Centenary of Canberra local engagement campaign last month.

“Over the past month Canberrans have been invited to nominate their reasons why they ‘like Canberra’, and they will now have the chance to purchase their own t-shirts to show pride in their city,” the Chief Minister said.

“It is tremendous to see the community getting involved in the Centenary year, with more than 7,000 Canberrans already nominated their reasons why they ‘like Canberra’ since the campaign began a month ago.

“The Canberra and Region Visitors Centre will donate $1 from the sale of each shirt to the Centenary of Canberra Dollars for Dili project,” the Chief Minister concluded.

Dollars for Dili is helping to fund construction of sanitation and health (toilet) blocks in nominated Dili schools and an activity centre for Timor Leste Scouting.

The Chiefly One does love a bit of merch.

“Like Canberra: yeah right!”

“Like Canberra: because 12 000 satisfied emergency department patients just can’t be fudged.”

“Like Canberra – they terk our jerbs!”

“Like Canberra – because it’s a hell of a lot better than Murrumbateman.”

“Like Canberra: yeah like, whatever!”

“Like Canberra: porn without a bang…….at least since they banned the fireworks.”

and, just for Summernats –

“Like Canberra – then show us ya tits and ya baby-shooter”

Are the shirts made locally by a community engagement program for recently arrived refugees fleeing violence and persecution in Western Sydney?

LIke Canberra, but wouldn’t want to live there 🙂

If the T-shirt just says ‘Like Canberra’ one could add things before that, such as Mongolia…Like Canberra. Or; The Slough of Despond…Like Canberra.

Or Like Canberra’s RIOTACT

Will be a great T-shirt to wear while fishing at the coast.

Krap Kringle = Sorted. Thanks Chief.

FCUK CANBERRA?

Will be happy to buy and wear one…..in Canberra…Not sure I will put it on when i visit far North QLD next week..The love might not extend that far.

Yeah, don’t go upset the FNQ redneck knuckle-draggers, ya’ll hear! 🙂

Them thar Tropical folk don’t take too kindly to the snow folk blowin’ in from the south..

Google image search brings them up – from the way the fabric is falling, looks to be icky polycotton, Made in China, crew neck, flappy sleeves and the one in the image that comes up first is the Sex Party T-shirt colour. They should have brought them out with options in scoop neck with 3/4 sleeves and a tighter sleeve fit, and hopefully in more useful colours. And with larger font.
They are pretty darn awful. Any self-respecting vain Canberran won’t go near them. At least we’ll be able to pick the Canberra, er, “diaspora” (sic) because they will be the only folk wearing them around Civic!

I await seeing them at Summernats in the wet look.

After this enthusiastic response, can you score some freebies for the ever positive RiotACT community?

I’ll buy a fabric pen.

Fudge drive at Canb Hosp does wonders for your figures or sweep it under the carpet.

Damn – the text editor took all the angle bracket stuff out. I’m pretty sure I can raise all this as a Human Rights issue, right?

“Like Canberra” T-shirts, great idea.

Of course I want one, but my circumstances mean that I can’t get myself to the distribution point, and I can’t afford the price. Surely there must be some way to subsidise the shirts? Also, I need the shirt delivered, but I’m not sure how the sizing is done, so the person delivering them should bring a selection for me to try on. And my children shouldn’t miss out, so they should also bring a selection of children’s sizes, and since I’m eligible for FTB the childrens’ shirts should be completely free to me (although govt may be able to charge back some off that cost to the feds). And I don’t want some person starting at my children trying on shirts, so anyone they send should have completed child protection training. But I’d also feel uncomfortable, so when they send the people to my house with the shirts there should be at least one person of each gender, because I it’s unreasonable for me to be alone with them in my house, especially if my children are exposed. The shirts allso need to come iin male and female shapes, because it demeans me as a to have have to wear a shirt that isn’t designed for me. In fact, they should be sized according to my body shape, given that I’m . The team of trained shirt fitters should be available to come for a range of appointments, in case I have to go out during the day, including being able to come after hours.

I think that about covers it. I definitely like Canberra.

bahahahahaha

London
Paris
New York
Queanbeyan

Available only in beige?

The return of “Feel the Power of Canberra”?

lolol

Give me an “I <3 QBN" t-shirt any day.

Funny press release: spruiking a t-shirt but not bothering to provide any pictures of said merch. No mention of it on the "canberra100" website. All up, about the level of planning I've come to expect.

Keep up the good work….
