Encore is an 8-week program designed specifically for women who have experienced breast cancer at any time in their life. Incorporating gentle exercises, relaxation techniques, information and support, Encore is safe, fun and therapeutic. The pool and floor based exercise program is specifically designed to target areas that have been affected by breast cancer surgery and treatment.

Gentle but effective exercises improve strength, mobility and flexibility whilst the warm water in the hydrotherapy sessions relieve affected muscles. The classes provide an opportunity for women to share their experiences in a safe and supportive environment.

Participation is free, is by enrolment only, and medical approval is required.

Women are invited to participate in Encore during or any time after their experience of breast cancer. Also, women who have already participated in the course may be able to participate for a second time if spaces are available.

The first Encore Program for 2009 commences on Wednesday 11th February. The Program will run from 7 to 9pm every Wednesday evening until the 1st of April (eight weeks in total).

For more information or to enrol please contact Gordana Morphett at the YWCA of Canberra on 6278 5298 or e-mail encore@ywca-canberra.org.au.
