Zebras vandalised =(

By 31 July 2010 21

zebras [Zebras pre-vandalisation by ozmackem]

The ABC has a story on the recently beloved Zebras of Lake George have been assaulted by vandals.

overnight one zebra was beheaded while another is missing a tail and has been dragged 60 metres from the herd.

So if you find a zebra’s head in your bed, you’ll know where it came from.

(if you’ve got a picture of the newly re-arranged zebras please send it in to images@the-riotact.com)

UPDATE: The Zebras have now been removed. Sic transit gloria mundi

That didn’t take long. Wasn’t the disgruntled farmer was it?

I hope whoever did it dies of whatever health and safety risk was apparently presented by the zebras!

Gee, and I bet I can almost ID the type of a-holes that would do this sort of thing: hoodie wearing 17-25 year old males, individual IQs below 100, driving either a Falcon or Commodore with at least one Southern Cross sticker on it, and endowed with incredibly small penises.

No Mr Evil, collective IQ less than 100…

Shame.

I think I finally get the “”””””””””art””””””””””* at Barton/GDE, its a challenge to the local dimwitted youth.

* Please note the use of a large qty of quotation marks is to indicate how far from art I think that monstrosity is and what a waste of public money it was, utter garbage.

The ABC is now reporting the sculptor has removed the zebras:

Let’s hope they come back, but I can understand if they don’t. :(

The George Valley looked very very bare without its beautiful zebra inhabitants brightening up the landscape as I drove past yesterday.

Frowny face :(

A real shame. But it was always high on the probability list.

The pics in the Times showed that the sculptures were hollow and quite thin. Not a criticism – simply a statement of fact.

People are quick to slag off about the costs of public art. But making outdoors sculptures out of indestructible materials like steel, bronze and granite is a lot harder and more expensive than working in sandstone, glass, plaster and plastic.

Ultimately though it is money well spent when the pieces can resist the follies of drunken fools.

I think the Gorgian zebras were far enough away from the nearest drinking hole to rule out “drunken hijinks”. The average mooseheads inhabitant or liquor shop door exploding, hoodie wearing reprobate wouldn’t drive for an hour or so to decapitate a fake zebra when they can just nick a witches hat or a milk crate or blow the doors off a grog shop.

This is a malicious, deliberate attack by the zebra H8ers.

Please wont someone think of the zebras. Someone should call the RSPCA. It is a small step from harming fake animals to the real thing !!!11one!!
