Dear Mr Zucchini,
Despite none of your pizzas actually containing either zucchini OR brothers, we are big fans of your work, and lament your absence since December.
It was rumoured that you would be reopening mid-February but having recently tried to call you and found your number disconnected, and the location of your new digs clearly vacant, it seems unlikely.
Are you ever coming back to us? Or are we forever doomed to walk the earth, comparing your pizzas to others and finding them sadly lacking?
Yours in anticipation,
Us.
P.S If any Rioters know what’s going on, feel free to comment! We’re also curious as to when/if the new Pizza Capers is opening at Erindale. Their Bourbon Chicken pizza is quite possibly the best thing I have ever eaten – besides Zucchini Brothers of course!
The Pizza Capers at Mawson shops opened approx. 2 months ago – replacing the Encore Pizza place. I personally really miss the Encore pizza – it was good pizza at a good price. The Pizza Capers pizza is (for me) a poor pizza at an inflated price…Luckily Mawson has three other pizza outlets, so I can pick and choose, but my weekly Encore pizza fix is sorely missed.

+1. Went to Capers’ twice, never again. As FarrerGirl said- poor quality, outrageous prices. No wonder they do not have people walking in and out with pizzas from there all the time, as this was the case when Encore was there.
As for Pizza Hut there- they take the prize for making worst ever pizzas.
So, my family is sticking to Dominos, they have lifted their game recently and are making awesome pizzas every time.
The words ‘Dominos’ and ‘awesome’ do not belong in the same sentence. Ever.
Come to that, the words ‘Dominos’ and ‘pizza’ don’t belong in the same sentence…
Mrs Alderney and I make our own with pizza bases purchased from Wiffins.
Very tasty and we are in total control of what goes on them and how long they take to get on the dinner table.

So Dominos don’t actually sell pizza’s? How odd they’ve managed to fool the public for decades!
Alderney said :
Mr Poetix makes pizza from the very beginning, meaning he makes the bases himself from flour and yeast and so on. Which is pretty good.
Why would anyone pay someone else to make a pizza for them? It’s the most simple thing to make, glorified cheese of toast.

Why on earth would anyone drive a car? It’s only a glorified bicycle.
bundah said :
By golly, you’re right – they *do* sell pizzas! How could I have missed that? I feel so foolish…
rosscoact said :
No. It’s not. At all. In any way. You need to work on your analogies.
m@ said :
Don’t beat yourself up, we all make mistakes.
Ben_Dover said :
Nope, need to work on my ignore.
rosscoact said :
There’s no harm in your working on both.
Yeah, but are Zucchini Brothers coming back?
m@ said :
Please don’t feel foolish for that is only something a fool would do.Of course you would be aware that Dominos are renowned wordwide as connoisseurs of fine chocolate and no doubt you would’ve experienced that first hand with their famous choc lava cake which is to die for!

Thanks! Yeah, I kinda wanted to know if anyone knew whether they were closed for good, or whether their relocation was just taking longer than expected.
I do make my own pizzas btw, they just aren’t as nice as Zucchini Brothers, and frankly, there are nights when I’d rather someone else cook for me!
Dellissio in curtain is pretty amazing.
Or if you have the time and will, try this :http://www.tested.com/food/95090-tested-cooking-the-perfect-pizza-at-home/

La Capanna in Kingston make excellent pizzas. I used to love Woodstock’s pizzas too.
Considering how simple the basics of pizza are, it is amazing how many average-to-awful ones there are out there. Hint – rubber washers are not a substitute for olives.

Are you for real? People actually put rubber washers on their pizzas, and then sell them? What a strange this to do.
Also I always remember my favourite pizza place ever then sob. Kcs in the civic interchange. Pizza and coke and street fighter!
KCs made a good pizza.
The Hawker takeaway does something similar
johnboy said :
Yeah hawkers Mexican is totally boss. But got ham, it’s doughy. ( in a good way but still, fulling)

Do they deep fry it?

Pfft, glorified cheese on toast.
I saw him in the Bay a couple of weeks ago…. Maybe he is opening a shop there??? He would have his work cut out for him though. Sams is possibly the best pizza i have had in my life.
If you want to buy a pizza base, the small ones from Mosaics bakery, sold in all/most IGAs, are great. Only a one-person size, but make one for each person. Also really cheap (fur for around $5) and fresh.

Having tried Dominoes, Encore and most of the Pizza franchises I’d honestly say that Pizza Capers rocks worlds. Unlike Encore or Dominos they are not stingy with toppings and are by far a better quality pizza. There is a significant difference in quality even with the peperoni, toppings and sauces. Ok, I push you to get a bbq meatlovers pizza from Dominos and then order a bbq bonanza from Pizza Capers – side by side comparison you’ll be able to tell the difference. I think people in Mawson might be tightasses and not want to pay up for quality. Houso’s Houso’s Houso’s…
Their Conder store folded years ago, got turned into a Asian takeaway. Never saw anyone in there.
Surprising since the nearby Dominos puts out a sub-par product and the shop hasn’t been renovated since it opened in 96. Then again, people used to line up for their pizzas back in the days they operated from a rusting old bus on the abandoned Thawra Road remnants. Guess some people like it.
Apparently a gym is going in where Zucchini Brothers used to be.
and as far as shop bought pizzas go, I’m surprised no one has mentioned Crust yet. Their Peri-Peri Chicken pizza is the best!
