I’ve never been to Brodburger, and a large part of the reason is hearing about the wait before I heard about the …thing… Having said that, I like a good thing, and would be interested in finding out for myself.

Can anyone inform me if they are licensed? A seventy minute wait would be much more bearable with a few bevvies.

They have a good variety of beers for sale

Unfortunately it won’t be able to handle any extra customers. I took some interestate relatives there recently. Turned out to be a bad advertisement for Canberra. Waited 70 minutes (on a weeknight) for our 3 burgers to arrive. Had they told me that there would be a long wait, I would have happily tried elesewhere. The staff there seemed to resent having customers and were quite unfriendly when taking our simple order. If they are unable to handle their existing customers, wouldn’t any sort of promotional/marketing activity be counterproductive?

Have attempted to buy burger there twice and as soon as been told waiting times have left burgerless twice. The Soup Nazi was at least quick. Strange Canberra idea, the slow wait for fast food. Somewhat reminds me of a restaurant 15 or so years ago in Weston where the food was awful and the head waiter camped things up and was rude to customers. Nevertheless a large clientele had heard the joint was an experience not to be missed, believed the waiter some sort of latter day Kenneth Williams of Carry On fame, and flocked to the joint. Going further back in time (20 years) there was a pub out in Gundaroo that served leathery steak and chips in an atmosphere of ‘authentic outback pub’. You had to book weeks ahead to insult your digestive system – apparently a rollicking good time was to be had. I have a theory that this distorted view of what’s acceptable in the culinary stakes finds its origin in the Public Service mindset of ‘yeah’ saying / don’t rock the boat, approval of things inherently bad, but anointed and approved from, by ‘higher’ authorities.

Order on the 9th, eat them on the 10th.

just tweeted: @brodburger – hope i can get a free burger on the 9th – but i only just joined the queue so will probably miss out 🙁 #needmorechefs
