The Centenary bods are celebrating the 10,000th entry to their “Like Canberra” campaign:

ACT Chief Minister Katy Gallagher today revealed that the Like Canberra community engagement campaign received its 10,000th nomination yesterday – coinciding with the start of the 100-day countdown to the national capital’s big birthday.

“Since the Like Canberra campaign launched in October Canberrans have nominated a huge range of reasons why they like their city,” the Chief Minister said.

“There are already some strong themes, including the beautiful open spaces and nature reserves in every suburb and the ability to be in the city one minute and the country the next,” the Chief Minister said.

The Like Canberra local engagement campaign is being run over three stages, with the nomination period ending on December 31.

On January 14 the voting phase will begin, which will allow the people of Canberra to cast their vote to decide on the Top 100 things to like about Canberra. Canberra’s Top 100 list will be announced close to the Centenary birthday on March 12.

And don’t forget the sure to be cult hit “Like Canberra” tshirts are on sale at the Northbourne Tourism Centre.

much prefer ” country livin…city benefits..”. Ahhh a happy ending

The thing I love about Canberra is that there’s always some event on that has the goal of further glorifying Canberra!

More love:
—————
– Telstra Tower. I always know where I am.
– Galahs. So cute. So dopey. So often run over.
– 4am Jogs in June.
– 1pm Cricket matches in December.
– Political Events. Brushing shoulders with politicians and bragging to friends and relatives like they’re supposed to be impressed or something.
– Lack of night club brawls due to … lack of night clubs.
– Lack of insect problems in the house (at least in North Canberra)
– Australian flags everywhere. If you can’t scoff 5 meat pies covered in Vegemite while singing Waltzing Matilda and driving your ute cranking ACDC while wearing a singlet and pair of stubbies then you are clearly not Australian and please get out of this countryyyyY!!!!!

Is there some kind of teleport system I don’t know about? I’ve told you a MILLION times, do not exaggerate!

Its a katy reference to the hospital waiting times, some times it feels like your in a city when you actually need something well your actually in the country and you have to make do.

I like Canberra… but not in that way. We’re just good friends.

I like that about Canberra too.

The southern ends of Bindubi and Coulter are “country”. There’s even a farm.

Will all submissions be available to vote on?

I have submitted some just to see if they are serious. For example:

‘I like how, in Canberra, no matter how many times I break my bail conditions, the courts release me every time. ‘

If every submission is not presented for the public to vote upon then it is just a sham.

How much are the T-shirts?

Well, to answer my own question they are $10, as I just rang up. Fabric markers are quite cheap too.
