My missus is very pregnant at the moment, and loves (actually, demands) constant massages. I’m getting bored of doing this all the time, and I’d like to line her up some time with a ‘professional’ masseuse as a treat.
Attempts to organise this in the past have been unsuccessful: About a year ago, I bought massage vouchers from a individual masseusse running as a small business, who then proceeded to claim she was too busy to take any bookings in the next 3 months , cancelled the first two bookings made after this time, and ended up giving a dud massage anyway.
Can anyone recommend good massage businesses/masseuses? Anyone that specialises in pregnant massages? (None of the ‘naughty’ massage parlors please … although I’m always keen to hear stories I suppose).
What’s Your opinion?
Where to find a masseuse?

I recommend Soul’s Desire Beauty & Grooming – 6288 2587, ask for Cassy.
She does remedial and relaxation massage.
Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions – I really appreciate it.
I don’t think paying for a couple of massages is gonna get me off the hook, but it’ll give me a break, and give the missus a treat at the same time.
I’m gonna pick up some vouchers from a couple of the places suggested above (one close to home, and one close to her work).
Cheers!
Northern northside [read: Gunghalin], Chinese Massage inthe main street. At least if you are pregnant the wind blowing down that well-designed piece of @#$%^ will not blow you over. Shat, I diversified quick there….

Another vote for Bodykneads. They’ve helped this battered about old body get rid of the daily pain of old injuries. Going there for another session tomorrow.
ditto on Natural Options at Macquarie Shops
BTW Jim, do you really believe that outsourcing this service will get you off the hook?
Ho ho ho!
Griffith Massage Centre – Griffith Shops.
I recommend Northside Studios in Fyshwick. Ooops, wrong sort of massage . . .
Therapy Masters Civic.
I highly recommend Natural Options at Macquarie Shops.. and the Chinese Massage place on Bunda Street…
Dunno if they offer pregnancy massages or not..
I like Massage for Health at Ainslie Shops. They do pregnancy massage. I had a post-pregnancy massage there and the masseuse gave some good tips on reducing neck & shoulder strain while I was spending ten hours a day feeding a baby. Have given gift vouchers from there before, they’re always appreciated.
Massage Practice and training – they did the olympic team…
Vic Soloman done the Olympic team but I use Anthony or Tony for short. He is fantastic… 6280 9054

There’s a Thai place that does a variety of massages, including Thai foot massage as well as Swedish etc. Not sure about pregnant women’s requirements. I think it’s called “Foot & Thai”, and it’s at Weedon Close Belconnen (just down the hill from The Pot). Quite reasonable rates.
Mrs Mrshmellow swears by the Canberra Day Spa over near the ACTEW building in town.
They have a pregnancy specialist masseuse and do gift vouchers
I go to Om Shanti in Griffith.

Yes. There’s a great massage therapist in Florey – across from the shops. It’s called Body Kneads. They specialise in remedial massage and in particular for pregnant women (although that’s hardly a remedy I suppose!). They are in the Yellow and White pages.
