What would you pay to rent Braddon Parking?

By Vonbare - 2 April 2009 16

My cousin lives in an apartment on Torrens St and doesn’t own a car.  I’m trying to convince him to rent out his car space as he is paying for it in his rent.

Just wondering…..how much would you pay for this? What’s the going rate?  It’s underground, secure and would have 24/7 access.

 muchos gracias 🙂

What’s Your opinion?

im one of the many who cram into the carpark behind the Rex each morning for free, and quite enjoy the 15 minute stroll into the city!

Every Monday I drive in expecting this area to have been fenced off over the weekend, or the owners to have a man on the driveway demanding $5.00.

Its obviously not ACT Govt, so who actually owns it? And how long will it last?

Oh, and to answer the original question, Clifton Apartments on Mort Street has a sign in front advertising $150 per month undercover secure parking.

City west charges something like $11 per day, onstreet parking is $7.70 or 5.50 per day.

Is it legal to hire out a spot like this? Not that that would stop me doing it if I had the opportunity – I’m just interested to know.

not sure about legality per se but i know some body corporates have rules against it because the swipe card to the carspot (where secure) also swipes into the secure building.

For reference, undercover parking at a Gov Dept in Belconnen can cost as much as $145 per month (inc GST).

Underground parking in those apartments is more hassle than it’s worth – tight spaces. If you drive a Yaris it might be OK.

Hectic

I charge $20 a week in Turner and have it on auto-transfer from someone. 🙂

I could easily get $30+ a week, but it’s just for a work mate at the moment.

For purposes of comparison, underground parking at Manuka Plaza was around $30 a week(last time I need that sort of thing). I’m guessing that somewhere around $100 a month would be close.

depending on location to civic, 100 month minimum. Easiest way, find out where the closest paid parking is, if it is full every day advertise there your car park at a 20%+ premium.

100 a month
