Sun and driving

Heh, I reckon that was one big flaw in the Canberra planning – having all the residential on the west, and all the industrial on the east… Should have been the other way around. We have to drive into the sun on every commute. The only time I didn’t have this was when I lived in Kingston and worked in Woden, that was great!

Get yourself some AutoGlym Glass Polish from Autobarn (or wherever). It’s fantastic stuff for the inside glass, pretty easy to apply and never streaks.

Well, at least they do put their brakes on when they realise they can’t see. Defensive driving would be to recognise that this is about to happen to the person in front, and increase your distance.

I just love it when they turn towards the sun and then decide to clean their windscreen at 80 km/h. My car doesn’t need to be cleaned by their windscreen cleaner and they wonder why I abuse them. But I do agree there are some bad spots at the moment.

At least I won’t be blinded by the sun reflecting off all those stupid glass panels at the crest of the hill going north on Fairburn ave like I do in summer.

Same sad old refrain. Surely savy skilled drivers like you two are able to anticipate the behaviour of us ordinary less able drivers and so it should not be a problem for you. In hilly winding roads at near dusk even when it is not partially cloudy I don’t believe even your magnificant skills would enable you to predict the sun’s position and intensity of the blinding. Beats me what not keeping left has to do with the topic anyway. Or suing. Accept it. A lot of the rest of us are flawed.

No rear lights I know of can compete with the sun.

Meh, I just close my eyes and navigate by the sound of the screams and crunching metal until I get past the spot.

You should see traffic on Sulwood Drive in Kambah on some afternoons. As traffic heads up one hill to meet Manheim Street, they slam on their brakes as the sun is sitting right on the next hill to go up past Inkster Street. But that is why daylight savings if great.
