Zed and the Busway

By Jazz - 11 November 2005 7

In another display of senisibility the Big Z man has raised another good point questioning the value of Simon Corbell’s plans to build a $150 million busway between Belconnen and Civic. Actions annual report seems to indicate that overall use of our local bus network is down, despite the ministers claims otherwise.

Perhaps it really is time for the light rail, and if not, then some of our more senior MLA’s would do well to follow Zed’s example of focussing on issues that really concern us here

What’s Your opinion?

$150 mill hey? How about spending that upgrading Majura Road to dual lanes before there is a fatality on it?

Maybe spend that putting in the long-planned but as yet never built road that runs from Watson to Fairburn, linking in Ainslie Avenue, so Ainslie, Reid etc are exempted from the rat-runners each morning…

$150 mill to knock 3 seconds off a bus trip from the City to Westfield struggletown? Not good value to this rate payer…

It would be great to see MLA’s indicating they would use the bus every now and then…just to show some support by leading by example.

It seems the Z man is becoming prone to these fits of sensibility.

Pity about his colleagues…

What period did Action’s annual report cover? There seems to be increased patronage on the days and routes I travel ever since the petrol price rises – not enough to warrant 150 million on a bus lane though (nor a light rail system).

Fully support the idea that MLA’s should focus on the issues that actually matter to us. It’ll never happen though.

Wow, you’re really cheerleading for the right faction of the ACT Libs today aren’t you Jazz. Good to see that critical analysis is alive and well here on the riotact.
