It’s been a bit of a dreary week in Canberra, but it looks like we might get a small reprieve from the wet weather over the weekend.

If not, there are plenty of indoor activities to keep you amused over the next few days, including the inaugural winter glass markets at Canberra Glassworks, a kimchi-making workshop at Canberra Environment Centre and game three of the 2015 Canberra Roller Derby League home season.

1. Marriage equality rally in Garema Place
Join GetUp members and hundreds of Canberrans on Sunday at 12pm to rally for an end to marriage discrimination in Australia, and give an extra push for that free vote Prime Minister Tony Abbott has hinted could be just around the corner. The rally is family friendly and all about celebrating love and equality. More info.

2. Inaugural winter glass market at Canberra Glassworks
With the dreary weather set to continue over the weekend, the Canberra Glassworks’ inaugural winter glass market is a good excuse to head indoors. There will be market stalls, live music, a lighting installation, a winter glow garden, a silent auction, a lucky dip and door prizes. Participate in interactive glass making workshops and see live glass blowing in the Hotshop. It’s on this Saturday from 4pm. More info.

3. Midwinter Megalo Mingle
Help create a collaborative monoprint of the Powerhouse Building, see artists at work, hear Katy Mutton’s experience as a local artist in residence, view the members’ exhibition and keep warm with a glass of Canberra’s finest mulled wine at the Midwinter Megalo Mingle. It runs alongside the Canberra Glassworks’ glass market at Megalo Print Studio and Gallery on Saturday from 4pm to 9pm. More info.

4. Brindabelters vs. Red Bellied Black Hearts in the CRDL
Game three of the 2015 Canberra Roller Derby League home season sees the Brindabelters take on the Red Bellied Black Hearts. Both teams have had a win so far, but who will win this game and further their goal of making the grand final? Head to Southern Cross Basketball Stadium on Saturday from 5pm to find out. More info.

5. Raiders take on the North Queensland Cowboys
Be part of the action at GIO Stadium this Saturday afternoon as the Raiders play the Cowboys in round 15 of the competition. More info.

6. Learn how to make kimchi
The Canberra Environment Centre is holding a kimchi workshop this Saturday. Kimchi is a traditional Korean dish made of spicy fermented cabbage, and is full of good probiotics which are essential for maintaining a healthy gut. More info.

8. Three by Andy Mullens at Canberra Contemporary Art Space
This weekend is your final chance to visit Three, an exhibition by Andy Mullens, at Canberra Contemporary Art Space. Inspired by a recent trip to Saigon, Andy uses photographs, stitch and sculpture to explore her Vietnamese heritage and connect family, nationhood and self. More info.

9. Taiwanese Association of Canberra dragon boat festival
The Taiwanese traditionally commemorate the death of poet and minister Qu Yuan every year with a dragon boat (duanwu) festival. This year, the Taiwanese Association of Canberra will continue the tradition on Sunday from 11.30am at Glebe Park. There will be a barbecue, karaoke and a free Taiwanese rice dumpling per person. 12. The Octonauts at Canberra Theatre Centre
The Octonauts are coming to Canberra! The beloved animated heroes from one of Australia’s most-watched TV shows have been re-imagined for the stage and transformed into life-sized characters. There are two chances to view the show on Saturday – one at 10.30am and the next at 1.30pm. More info.

13. Beethoven’s piano concerto with Neal Peres da Costa
Neal Peres da Costa is guest soloist in a new chamber version of Beethoven’s third piano concerto. Hear it at the ANU School of Music on Friday from 7pm and on Saturday at 2.30pm. More info.

14. Wild west dance party
Is your cowboy hat gathering dust? Do you find yourself humming the theme to the classic TV western Bonanza when you should be working? If so, you’re in luck! 30 Plus Dance Event is hosting a wild west-themed dance party at the Rugby Union Club in Turner this Saturday night from 8pm. More info.

Miss Kitka’s House of Burlesque hosts a bootscootin’ wild west burlesque adventure that sees Lonesome Billy on a journey to rescue to Sheriff’s daughter on Saturday from 7pm. More info.

16. Festival of Early Dance and Music
Canberra’s Festival of Early Dance offers a day and night of Renaissance dance workshops and an evening ball. Everyone is welcome, and you don’t need any prior experience as all dances will be taught or led. It’s on Saturday at the All Saint’s Church Hall in Ainslie. More info.

17. Truffle Festival live cooking demonstrations
The Canberra Region Truffle Festival starts on Sunday, and to mark the occasion Westfield Belconnen and Woden are holding live truffle cooking demonstrations with a selection of chefs from Canberra’s finest restaurants. More info.

On late afternoon Saturday, the Sydney Bears will be taking on the Brave at Phillip ice rink. Come and watch probably the fastest team sport.

I’m going to the Canberra Blues Society Blues Jam at The Harmonie German Club on Sunday at 2pm for the best music in Canberra!
